HCM Music Theory lessons are available to everyone from the age of 7 years old to 70. Lessons are charged at £22.00 per 30 minute session.
All lessons take place at HCM Music Academy in Ware.
To become a fully-rounded musician and take your music education to the next level, a knowledge of music theory is highly useful.
HCM music theory lessons are a great extension to HCM’s instrument lessons and can be done by children and adults from 7 to 70. Sessions take place each week at HCM Music Academy and are held on a one-to-one basis, in either 30 or 60 minute slots – the choice is yours.
Music theory is not just learning how to build chords, recognise intervals and understand key signatures. Every single concept in music theory is an idea or foundation for learning how to express your thoughts with sound and music. HCM music theory lessons see you study a range of interlocking skills, including notation, listening, musical perception, creativity and much more. The exact subject matter of your classes will change every week and will be uniquely designed to cater for the interests and skill level of you and your fellow classmates.

HCM’s music theory lessons sit alongside our instrumental lessons to compliment your musical progression. The classes are graded by the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) and offered in small groups from ABRSM Grade 1 to ABRSM Grade 5. If you’d prefer to brush up on your knowledge of music theory in a less formal manner, individual non-graded lessons are available too.
