Teaching in Schools

HCM’s music in schools service sees expert music tutors visit primary and secondary schools offering weekly lessons in guitar, bass, ukulele, drums, piano, violin, vocals and more.

At HCM Music Academy, we know that not all schools have the internal resources required for dedicated musical instrument lessons for their students.

So we’ve developed our music in schools service which works closely with individual education providers to offer bespoke instrument teaching to suit their students. Your school can choose from weekly lessons in guitar, drums, vocals, and piano, on either an individual or group tuition basis, with all requirements specifically adapted to the needs of your school’s music department.

  • The lessons

School instrument lessons are taught on a one-to-one basis, for a duration of either 20 or 30 minutes.

Pupils will learn to read music and play a selection of songs across a variety of genres. The classes can follow a graded syllabus from a selection of reputable exam boards, and therefore students can monitor their progress and be inspired during their ongoing musical journeys.

    Our music teachers

HCM’s tutors all have a strong passion for inspiring children to learn to play musical instruments. Not only are they astounding instrumentalists themselves, but they recognise how young people learn and are confident in communicating often complex musical principles in an easy-to-understand way.

All our teachers are Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checked and operate within a strict safeguarding policy.

  • What our schools say about us

Working with HCM is an absolute pleasure. Their teachers are of the highest calibre; skilled, passionate and deeply committed to nurturing pupils’ musical growth. The impact on our children has been tangible: increased confidence, joy in learning and real musical progress. Communication is consistently clear, timely and proactive; it genuinely feels like they’re part of our team. Compared to other providers, their reliability and professionalism stand out. I would wholeheartedly recommend them to any school looking for a seamless, high-quality music provision that truly puts pupils first.

What our schools say about us

HCM music academy have been providing piano lessons for our children for just over two years now. From the start, I have found communication to be very good, and nothing is too much bother. During our time working with HCM, we have had two different teachers, both of whom have been excellent, building great relationships with the children. As we are a small school, with limited space, the teachers have been really flexible and supportive of the school if we have needed to change their workspace. Our current teacher has also built strong relationships with the staff. I have no hesitation in recommending HCM to another school.

What our schools say about us

HCM have supported the school in taking on this exploration of music, and children are feeling confident in their ability. From a range of instruments being taught by an incredible team who have supported our school to grow. Our pupils have become resilient musicians who have learnt skills and are preparing for the world.

Andy and the team are very organised, flexible and supportive towards the school. They are an incredible service that makes our school unique. They are reliable, and they worked hard to get the school to where it is today.

Arnold Worton-Geer - Headteacher - St. John’s CofE Primary School
What our schools say about us

The music lessons provided by HCM have had a truly positive impact on our pupils. Children genuinely enjoy their sessions each week, and we’ve seen real growth in their personal development, confidence, and musical creativity. Many pupils choose to renew their lessons term after term, which is a clear reflection of how much they value the experience and want to continue progressing, demonstrating the high-quality music education they provide.

Communication, reliability, and organisation have all been excellent. Staff are easy to reach, always professional, and lessons run smoothly and consistently. We would recommend HCM to other schools.

My son loves his drum lessons with Tom and is progressing really well. Tom is incredibly patient and has been able to successfully continue lessons via zoom, which has been amazing!
